Center for Clinical Heart Research (CCHR)
The Research Center was established in 1991 based on ongoing larger clinical trials accompanied by laboratory related substudies on mechanisms (clinical translational research) within the field of atherothrombotic cardiovascular disease. "Bedside" central localization in Department of Cardiology allows an optimal function related to the relevant patient "loops" for clinical research in Oslo University Hospial - Ullevål, as a university hospital.

Main concept
Systematic self-initiated clinical research in cardiology along with patient "loops" in Ullevål in close cooperation with relevant milieus in Helse Sør-Øst.

- The projects are related to acute myocardial infarction and chronic heart disese, including diabetes, heart failure and atrial fibrillation.
- All projects are initiated within the research group itself or in cooperation with other research milieus.
- In addition to the clinical problems/questions raised, studies on mechanisms/translational studies ex-vivo are focused, particularly related to pathogenetic understanding of disease and effect mechanisms of interventional principles.

Mainly randomized interventional trials are conducted, but also cross-sectional studies and studies related to systematic biobanking associated with patient registries. Biobanking, including collection, sample processing, freezing/storage using standarized criteria is central and is an important part of the activity.
CCHR is a research group within the Center for Heart Failure Research.
